How To Use Our Label Templates

We hope you loved our Black Green Friday surprise! There are a plethora of ways to use these new tools in your arsenal, and we know you might need some help. Check out this step-by-step guide we put together on using your label templates if you ever need design assistance

File Formats & Resolution

It is of utmost importance that your file formats are compatible with printer softwares. We prefer Adobe Illustrator files and high quality PDFs when printing for our customers, but any vector file should be acceptable. Vector files are made up of mathematics rather than pixels, so it’s guaranteed your image will come out crisp. A good secondary option is a high-quality PDF format, but if your design contains white or metallic ink needs, we do require an Adobe Illustrator file. A resolution of 300dpi is the minimum requirement to ensure impeccable image quality.

Color Profile & Bleed

Color profiles usually have options of RGB or CMYK when designing graphics. For printing purposes, CMYK is always recommended so your labels print in the correct color format. To ensure the important elements of your design aren’t cut off during printing, we recommend incorporating a bleed of at least 0.25 inches to all sides, and extending your color to the end. This will prevent unwanted white trim on your labels.

Illustrator Hint: File > Document Color Mode > CMYK color

Letter Outline & Links

Make sure all your text is outlined if you’re working in an applicable program like Adobe Illustrator. You may also opt to send us your font files if that’s easier for you! Also, make sure your graphics are embedded so that they’re not missing when the file is transferred to us.

Illustrator Hint: Select all text, then go to Type > Create Outlines

Illustrator Hint: Select All Links window then go to Links > Panel Menu > Embed Images

File Type & Emailing

Though we can work with a variety of files, we ultimately prefer illustrator, EPS or high-quality PDFs if you can’t tell! Don’t forget, any design requiring white or metallic ink must be 100% Adobe Illustrator vector! Once you’re finished with your masterpiece, email it over to us with the dimensions of your label so we can get to work!
