They are also widely accepted by commercial printers, making them a widely used format in the industry.
A PSD (Photoshop Document) file is a raster graphics file format that is the native file format of Adobe Photoshop, a widely used software for editing and manipulating images and graphics. PSD files contain a layered image allowing users to edit and adjust individual layers, making it a versatile format for graphic design work. PSD files can also be saved in other image formats such as JPEG, PNG, TIFF, etc. for printing, which makes it a widely used format in the product labeling industry.
A PNG (Portable Network Graphics) file is a raster graphics file format that is a lossless format, meaning that they retain all the information from the original image and do not lose any quality during the compression process. This results in a higher-quality image than JPEG. PNG files also support transparent backgrounds, which is useful when creating labels that need to be applied to products with a non-uniform background. Additionally, PNG files support a wide range of colors, making it a versatile format for the product labeling industry.
A JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) file, also known as a JPG file, is a raster graphics file format that is a lossy format, meaning that they compress the image data in order to reduce the file size, which can result in lower image quality. However, this format is useful when the file size needs to be kept small, such as when sending files over the internet. JPEG files also support a wide range of colors, making them a versatile format for the product labeling industry.
A raster image, also known as a bitmap image, is a type of digital image that is made up of a grid of pixels, each with a specific color value. Raster images are resolution-dependent, meaning that the quality of the image will change if it is enlarged or reduced. Raster images are most commonly used in digital photography and web graphics, but can also be used in print. Common file types for raster images include JPEG, PNG, GIF, and TIFF. Raster images are not easily editable and are best used when the image is of a photograph or a complex image with gradients and blending. They are not as versatile as vector images and can become pixelated when enlarged.
A vector image is a type of digital image that is defined by mathematical equations rather than pixels. Vector images are resolution-independent, meaning that they can be scaled to any size without losing quality or becoming pixelated. They are widely used in the graphic design and printing industry for creating graphics, logos, illustrations, and diagrams. The most common file types for vector images are AI, EPS, SVG, and PDF. Vector images are highly editable, allowing for easy manipulation of the individual elements that make up the image, and can be exported to a raster format for use in print and other mediums. They are versatile and can be used for a wide range of applications, from simple illustrations to more complex graphics, and are preferred for print because of their scalability and ease of editing.
CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (black), and it is a color model used in the printing process. It is a subtractive color model, meaning that the colors are created by subtracting certain wavelengths of light from white light. The CMYK color model is used to produce a wide range of colors by varying the amounts of each color (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) that are used in the printing process. In the printing process, these colors are applied in tiny dots, known as halftones, which blend together to produce a wide range of colors. The CMYK color model is used for printing on paper, textiles, and other physical media, and is generally considered to be the industry standard for printing.
RGB stands for Red, Green, and Blue, and it is a color model used in electronic displays, such as computer monitors, smartphones, and televisions. It is an additive color model, meaning that colors are created by adding together different intensities of red, green, and blue light. This color model is used to produce a wide range of colors by varying the amounts of each color that is used in the display. RGB is the primary color space used in electronic devices and digital imaging since it can produce a wide range of colors using relatively simple technology. However, when it comes to printing, the RGB color model is not the standard, as most printers use the CMYK color model, which produces colors differently and requires a specific color profile to convert RGB colors to CMYK.
A cut line, also known as a trim line or crop mark, is a line or set of lines added to the layout of a document that indicates where the printed piece should be cut. Cut lines are used in printing to ensure that the final printed product is the correct size and shape. Cut lines are usually added to the document as thin, colored lines, and they are placed around the edges of the document where the final cut should be made. They are not visible in the final printed product and are used as a guide for the cutting process. Some software also has the option to add cut marks automatically when creating the print file.
A bleed is an additional area in a document that extends beyond the edge of the final printed piece. It is typically added to the layout of a document to ensure that there is no white space or unintended borders around the edge of the printed product. A bleed is often added to documents that have images or colors that extend to the edge of the final printed product. The bleed area is usually 0.125 inches or more, depending on the printer's requirement, and it should be the same for all four sides of the document. Once the document is printed, it is then cut to the final size, which will result in the image or color extending to the edge of the final printed piece.
Outlined fonts, also known as vectorized fonts, are a type of font converted from a font file into a set of vector shapes. This means that instead of being defined by a set of instructions, like traditional fonts, outlined fonts are defined by a set of points and lines that make up the shape of each character. In the context of printing, outlining fonts is a process that allows graphic design software to convert the text in a document into vector shapes so that the text will print correctly and maintain its integrity when sent to a printer. This is especially useful when working with certain types of printers or print processes that may not support all types of font files, or when the font file is missing or not embedded in the document. Outlining fonts also eliminates the need to include font files with the document, making it easier to share and print the document. However, once the font is outlined it can no longer be edited as text, so it is best to do this when the document is final.
Embedded links in printing refer to the inclusion of hyperlinks within printed documents or materials. These links can be added to the text, images, or other elements in the printed material and can be used to provide more detailed information, multimedia content, or interactive experiences related to the printed content.
Die cutting is a printing process in which a sharp steel blade is used to cut a specific shape into a printed material. This process is typically used to create custom shapes for labels and stickers. Die cutting is done using a die-cutting machine, which is a specialized machine that uses a steel rule die, a metal plate with a sharp edge that follows a specific pattern or shape, to cut the material. The die is placed on top of the material and the machine applies pressure to the die, cutting it into the desired shape. The die-cut shape can be simple or complex and can include multiple cuts, score lines, and perforations.
A kiss cut is a printing process in which a sharp steel blade is used to partially cut through printed material, such as adhesive-backed label stock, but not through the backing material. Kiss cutting is done using a metal plate with a sharp edge that follows a specific pattern or shape, to cut the material. This process is typically used to create custom shapes for products such as stickers, labels, and decals.

The material is easy to clean, resistant to fading, and can be cut into various shapes and sizes. Additionally, vinyl banners can be printed with vibrant colors and high-resolution graphics, making them an effective marketing tool for businesses and organizations.
Grommets, also known as metal eyelets, are small metal rings that are inserted into a banner to provide reinforcement and to create points for hanging or attaching the banner. They are typically placed along the edges or corners of a banner and are commonly used in banners that will be hung up for display. Grommets serve as a durable and secure point of attachment, allowing the banner to withstand wind or other forces without tearing or becoming detached. They also prevent the banner material from fraying or wearing out due to the stress of hanging. Grommets also make it easy to hang the banner with ropes, cords, or hooks.
